“…Considering that more than half of the students were attending courses related to heath science such as physical education, coach or physiotherapy, those results could be compared to students of medical studies. Results of students from this study are similar to those of German medical students, with a mean of 45.12 [30], dentistry students from Turkey with a mean score of 49.96 for females and 50.26 for males [31] or Spanish nursing students with scores exceeding a mean of 50 points [32]. This was similar to findings in a sample of dental students in Turkey (Yildirm & Atas, 2021) and is possibly related to dental students fear of infecting family members with the COVID-19 virus. The GATE program allows students to complete their dental programme with free tuition.…”

“…A large study on 2534 university students in the United States highlighted that the majority of the respondents, 45%, experienced a high psychological impact from COVID-19 [23]. Furthermore, a Turkish study on a population of dental students reported higher anxiety scores in females and clinical students [24]. The data obtained with this present study, while limited, suggests that the most significant source of feelings of fear and insecurity in students was the introduction of a very radical public health policy/measure, i.e., the lockdown.…”
