“…Rice-rice cultivation system is the primary crop rotation in south China (Xu et al 2018) where either pig manure or milk vetch is combined with chemical NPK. Though these fertilizer treatments have profound influence on factors of rice cultivation and paddy agro-environments, information on the impacts of various fertilizer management on Mn distributions in paddy soils is scarce in the study area.…”

“…Crop residue and manure addition can increase soil organic carbon (SOC) content (Yan et al, 2007;Liu et al, 2014;Zhang et al, 2016), but they can also be a source of CH 4 emissions in paddy soil (Shen et al, 2007;Tang et al, 2016). Application of manure or rice straw combined with mineral fertilizer in paddy soils was demonstrated to be effective in increasing soil fertility (mainly due to increased microbial biomass and SOC) (Xu et al, 2018). Similarly, a mixture of 70% manure in combination with 30% chemical fertilizer improved rice yields and bacterial diversity, and also alleviated soil acidification (Chen et al, 2017).…”

“…The addition of organic matter to the soil makes the use of mineral fertilizers more efficient, and is a viable practice to increase soil organic matter and microbial biomass, which contributes to the conservation of agroecosystems and reduces the impacts of agriculture on the soil biodiversity (BHARDWAJ et al, 2011;XU et al, 2018).…”

“…The addition of organic matter by soil cover plants associate with biological and/or mineral fertilizers has presented satisfactory results in long-term management, increasing grain yield and improving soil properties. Therefore, it can be an important tool to minimize impacts on soil structure (BEZERRA et al, 2008;ABERA et al, 2009;XU et al, 2018).…”
