Abstract: The aim of this study was to quantify the spatio-temporal changes in land use/ cover (LULC), as well as analyze landscape patterns over a 20-year period (1995 - 2015) in the Catolé watershed, northern Minas Gerais State, using landscape metrics. The LULC maps were obtained using Landsat 5 and 8 data (Processing level 1) through supervised classification using the maximum likelihood classifier. Seven thematic classes were identified: dense vegetation, sparse vegetation, riparian vegetation, cropland, planted fo… Show more

“…This is because the NP can measure the quantity of each element that makes up the landscape. The NP is a direct indicator of the level of fragmentation [53]. As shown in Table 7, agroforestry patches were the most numerous in the landscape of Rongga Sub-district with 546 patches, followed by open fields with 429 patches and plantations with 368 patches.…”

“…Para tanto, fica estabelecido que quanto mais próximo a 1, mais regular será seu formato, isto é, sua feição se aproximará mais de um círculo, tendo estrutura para abrigar uma maior diversidade de espécies. Além disso, quanto mais regular, menor será o impacto do efeito de borda, deixando o centro do fragmento mais distante das extremidades e apresentando menor interação com a matriz (Martins, et al, 2018;Pirovani et al, 2014).…”

“…Downstream from the upper erosion lands, the enlarged delivery of fine sediments could lessen capacity of river as a channel directing to amplify flood occurrences, and had adverse effects on water upon quality through increased turbidity and nutrient concentrations (Tan-soo et al 2014). Deterioration in compact natural vegetation habitats had caused harmonized drops of the physical and biotic interaction within environments, which was a depth concern for the watershed ecosystem services (Martin, et al 2018).…”
