Abstract: Hawthorn has been traditionally used to improve blood circulation and medicating cardiac disorders as well as blood stasis and elimination of pulmonary hypertension. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different levels of hawthorn extract in the drinking water on cardiac indicators, serum antioxidant activity, growth and immunity of pulmonary hypertensive broilers reared at high altitude and prone to ascites. A total of 225 one-day-old unsexed broiler chicks (Ross308) were randomly assigned t… Show more

“…Flavonoids (0.1 ml/L and 0.2ml/L) could significantly improve the amplitudes of S and T waves. Heart weight, RV:TV, RV:BW, and TV:BW ratios were also significantly reduced at receivers of 0.1 and 0.2 ml/L flavonoids (Ahmadipour et al, 2019). In a trial by Hassanpour and colleagues (2011), it was reported that 0.4g/L acetic acid would significantly alleviate S amplitudesat the age of 36 (leads II and III) and 45 days (lead aVF) in the birds with PHS.…”

“…Previously it has been revealed that nutritional interventions can attenuate the ascites-related cardiovascular disorders and improve different electrocardiographic parameters in broilers. Ahmadipour et al (2019) found that flavonoids extracted from hawthorn due to having potent antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities would effectively alleviate the NO serum levels in the numbers of PHS birds. Flavonoids (0.1 ml/L and 0.2ml/L) could significantly improve the amplitudes of S and T waves.…”

“…Feed consumption rate: The results of the statistical analysis of Table (6) indicate that the lowest rate of cumulative feed consumption (1-5 weeks) was for the birds of the sixth, fifth and fourth treatments, which amounted to (3172.52, 3197.6, 3226) grams of feed / bird compared to the birds of the treatments (first, second and Third) in a row, which amounted to (3273.55, 3258.4, 3250.73). Feed conversion coefficient: It shows the results of the statistical analysis of Table (7) of the biological effect of powdered hawthorn leaves (Crataegus oxyantha) and a mixture of optical enhancers liquid (Garlimune) on the rates of the feed conversion factor for broiler chickens during the total breeding period (cumulative period) as it improved significantly (P< 0.05) The rate of this trait for the birds of the sixth and fifth transactions on all transactional birds (first, second, third and fourth), and the rates of this trait were (1.60, 1.54, 1.51, 1.45, 1.39, 1.35) respectively.…”

“…The new rose 308 broiler crosses, as these models are possessed by the process of genetic training with a high speed of growth, which leads to a high rate of bird deaths, especially in the last breeding stages of birds with high weights, and the cause of death is attributed to the occurrence of Pulmonary hypertension syndrome (PHS), which is a phenomenon caused by An imbalance between the amount of O 2 required for muscles and the amount of O 2 supplied to the heart and lungs [5: 6]. The fact that strains of beneficial bacteria in the probiotic mixture improved the readiness of the nutrients and prevented the growth of harmful bacteria for a bird from being present in the digestive tract [7], which necessitated the need to choose a specific type of optical enhancer, including the powder of the leaves of the local hawthorn tree (Oxyacantha Crataegus) because they contain effective compounds that have a biological effect in protecting the bird from this phenomenon, and in order to determine the effectiveness of many light enhancers, the effect of these enhancers on the productive and physiological performance of broiler chickens and laying hens is studied. Therefore, the study aimed to determine the synergistic effect that supports growth, production, and carcass characteristics.…”

“…The antioxidant properties of C. laevigata are due to the high total content of phenols (Ferioli et al., 2020), but also to proanthocyanidins, flavones and flavonols (Škerget et al., 2005). The therapeutic properties of C. laevigata as an anti‐inflammatory and antimicrobial agent were also proved (Arya et al., 2012; Dalli et al., 2008; Periera da Silva et al., 2000; Tadić et al., 2008) as well as reduced hypoglycaemia in rats (Alaghawani & Naser, 2013) and improved pulmonary hypertension in chickens (Ahmadipour et al., 2019). In tinctures of C. laevigata , flavonoid concentration declines within 2–3 months while procyanidins are stable for more than 9 months (Bilia et al., 2007).…”
