Abstract: Dynamic compressive tests of 3D braided composites with different braiding angle were carried out in the longitudinal, transverse and thickness directions respectively using the Split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The results show that the compressive properties present obvious strain rate strengthening effects in all directions. The 20° and 45° braided composite are most sensitive to strain rates in the longitudinal direction. The composites present the features of brittle failure at high strain rates, espec… Show more

“…For sample O7 with larger braiding angle, the curve increases linearly and then gradually declines in a zigzag pattern after reaching the peak, the curve is higher than the curve O1. It is mainly about the larger the braiding angle, the smaller the periodic structure, and the closer the fiber bundles are braided in the thickness direction, the internal space structure of material is denser and the more difficult it is to break, so the curve gradually increases and the maximum stress improves …”
