Abstract: The early detection of failures in structures is a subject of great interest in engineering; several of these techniques are linked with the elastic wave propagation, using guided waves is one of these alternatives. Several structures of interest in engineering are laminar arrangements; the wave propagation in this type of structures depends not only on the material properties, but also on the geometric parameters, such as the plate thickness. Tubular structures, pressure vessels, tanks and also parts of ships… Show more

“…Figure 2 shows the dispersion curves of Lamb waves in an SS304 plate with 1.2 mm thickness and 15 mm width calculated by the SAFE technique based on axisymmetric modal analysis [ 22 ] using the commercially available FEM code, ANSYS (release 2017, ANSYS Inc., Canonsburg, PA, USA). From the dispersion curves, it can be seen that additional wave modes are formed with the existing Lamb wave modes in the infinite plate.…”

“…In general, UGWs can be generated and/or received through piezoelectric ceramic transducers that can be local or somewhat global ( i.e. encircling the structure), laser probe, 59 magnetostrictive. 60,61 To carry out the 2DFFT, it is suitable to use non-contact probes such as laser based ones.…”
