Abstract: In this paper, the fatigue behavior of the metallic welded U-shape specimens subjected to cyclic loading have been investigated via experimental and numerical analysis. To do so, two sets of the spot welded specimens with different sizes were prepared and fatigue tests were conducted under the various cyclic loads. The crack propagation is numerically examined by using the stress intensity factor values achieved from FE analyses. The modified Paris and Forman-Newman-De Koning models were used to estimate the f… Show more

“…With respect to emersion, these are the element free method (EFM), the boundary element method (BEM) [15][16][17][18][19][20] and the finite element method (FEM) [21][22][23][24][25][26][27], respectively. Abundant researches are performed in the field of evaluating the parameters affecting fatigue crack growth [28][29][30][31][32]. Trego investigated the effect of compressive residual stresses on rivet joints on static strength and fatigue [33].…”

“…Other related parameters involved in fatigue crack growth, such as initial crack angle and loading type, were studied in [22][23][24][25]. Concerning fatigue crack growth a ected by residual stresses in bandage wheels, Masoudi Nejad et al [26][27][28][29] investigated the fatigue crack growth and life estimation of railway bandage wheel a ected by contact stresses and heating residual stresses.…”
