Abstract: Citrus seeds normally have low storability. Identifying an optimal fruit harvest time for production of high vigor seeds is important for nurseries; however, identifying this stage for Swingle citrumelo fruits has been based only on visual color examination, and research related to this parameter has been inconsistent. The main objective of this study was to evaluate a red-green-blue (RGB) color measurement system for successful identification of Swingle citrumelo fruits possessing seeds with maximum physiolog… Show more

“…The images were analyzed with the aid of ImageJ ® software to obtain values of intensity of pixels of the red (R), green (G), blue (B), and grey scale components (Gomes-Junior et al, 2017). To obtain these values, an area (0.60 × 0.60 cm) in the basal region of the fruit was identified ( Figure 1).…”

“…Evolution of seed maturation has been characterized by biochemical, molecular, physical, physiological and morphological parameters, including age and fruit color (Marcos-Filho, 1980;Gomes-Junior et al, 2017). The use of tools, such as the Munsell color chart (Kollmorgen Corporation, 1976) and the red, green, and blue (RGB) computer vision systems (Vidal et al, 2013) to identify the stage of fruit and seed maturation, may represent important actions to produce more precise color evaluations (Gomes-Junior et al, 2017).…”

“…X Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf. ], Gomes-Junior et al (2017) proved the effectiveness of SVIS ® in characterizing the vigor of seeds extracted from fruits at different maturation stages. The outcomes evidenced the potential of the computer analysis of seedling images to assess the vigor of seeds that germinate slowly and possess intermediate tolerance to desiccation.…”

“…)], one should not wait for fruit peel color change, as seeds may germinate within the fruit or have low germination rate (CARVALHO et al, 2005). However, the association between fruit peel color and the physiological quality of seeds is not fully understood, and more information is needed to link fruit color and germination and seed vigor (GOMES-JUNIOR et al, 2017).…”
