Production of Antimicrobial Metabolites by Streptomyces lavendulocolor VHB-9 Isolated from Granite Mines

Abstract: The actinobacterial strain Streptomyces lavendulocolor VHB-9 was isolated from granite mine soil samples of Khammam district, Telangana state, India. The strain was identified based on detailed microorphological, cultural and phylogenetic analysis. Bioactive guided isolation of the secondary metabolites of the strain was carried out by growing the strain in optimized medium (0.5% lactose, 0.5% peptone, 0.05% K 2 HPO 4 , 0.2% CaCO 3 with pH adjusted to 7.0). Separation and purification of the active fractions f… Show more

“…The MIC obtained was 0.19 mg mL -1 , while the MLC was 0.38 mg mL -1 . The MIC obtained in the investigation is similar to that reported for other strains of Streptomyces, considered to have an outstanding microbial effect on different species of bacteria and fungi, including F. oxysporum (Hima-Bindu et al, 2017;Pérez-Rojas et al, 2015).…”

“…Se obtuvo una MIC de 0.19 mg mL -1 , mientras que la MLC fue del 0.38 mg mL -1 . La MIC obtenida en el trabajo es similar a los reportados para otras cepas de Streptomyces, consideradas con efecto antimicrobiano sobresaliente sobre diferentes especies de bacterias y hongos, incluyendo F. oxysporum (Hima-Bindu et al, 2017;Pérez-Rojas et al, 2015).…”

“…However, Bssn et al reported that EtOAc extract of Streptomyces lavendulocolor VHB-9 YMD has significant antifungal activity against A. niger , A. flavus , Fusarium solani, P. Citrinum , and C. albicans . The bioactive compounds produced by S. lavendulocolor VHB-9 were Bis (7-methyloctyl) phthalate and (Z)-3-aminoacrylic acid [ 34 ]. Aouiche et al found that Streptomyces spp.…”
