Strenuous swimming raises blood non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity in rats

Abstract: The non-enzymatic antioxidant system protects blood components from oxidative damage and/or injury. Herein, plasma nonenzymatic antioxidant capacity after acute strenuous swimming exercise (Exe) and exercise until exhaustion (Exh) was measured in rats. The experiments were carried out in never exposed (Nex) and pre-exposed (Pex) groups. The Nex group did not undergo any previous training before the acute strenuous swimming test and the Pex group was submitted to daily swimming for 10 min in the first week and … Show more

“…At the end of each week of training, we measured the lactate levels in exercising rats via tail vein punction using a portable lactate monitor and a lancet. To simulate the same stress levels that our exercising groups of animals had, the rats from the control group were also put in water for 1 min per day/5 days a week until the end of the training period [27].…”

“…It includes a lot of components, but platelets have a very significant place in it. Their functional state strongly determines the implementation of hemocirculation processes in all organs (Glamazdin et al, 2021a;Godoy et al, 2022). It is known that many parameters of platelet functioning are very sensitive to various influences from the external environment.…”
