Food safety represents a current topic, with significant implications and diverse approaches within the specialized literature. In the context of globalization and integration of agricultural markets, the necessity of guaranteeing food safety is imperative for the functionality of contemporary agricultural systems. The radical transformation of the national agricultural systems as a result of the influences imposed by the convergence with the requirements and directions of the European agricultural model entails a significant change for the markets of agri-food products, affecting the food trade, its structure and, implicitly, food safety. In this context, the main objective of the present paper is to examine food safety in Romania using an econometric approach to the phenomenon. Nine fundamental variables are considered, for which the causal relationship between food safety and the exogenous variables taken into analysis is tested. The time frame for data availability for all the variables is 1990-2011. The obtained results highlight the transformations of paradigm of the national agricultural model from the perspective of the dimensions regarding food safety, confirming results from previous studies.

Saúde Colet., 2015, Rio de Janeiro, 23 (1): 17-24 Resumo A venda de alimentos na rua constitui uma das ocupações mais representativas da economia informal, especialmente nos países em desenvolvimento. Entretanto, ao ser geralmente uma atividade não regularizada, sanitariamente perseguida e que envolve vendedores em situação de iniquidade e exclusão social, conduz a realização de práticas sanitárias incipientes que se traduzem em um alto risco na saúde pública, especialmente para os consumidores. Este artigo de opinião pretende discutir as implicações da venda de alimentos na via pública, tanto no contexto das políticas públicas quanto das iniciativas das organizações internacionais, desde uma perspectiva preventiva voltada ao foco laboral e dos direitos. Mediante o rastreamento das experiências na região ibero-americana, foram apontados avanços em diferentes níveis para o reconhecimento deste tipo de venda de alimentos e propostas com abordagens inclusivas e de acompanhamento sanitário.Palavras-chave: alimentos de rua; poluentes biológicos; doenças transmitidas por alimentos; políticas. AbstractStreet food vending has been one of the most representative occupations of the informal economy, especially in developing countries. However, generally, that activity is unregulated, persecuted by health agencies, and related to situation of inequality and social exclusion of vendors, which implies incipient health practices and high risk to public health, especially to consumers. This opinion paper aims to discuss the implications of food sales in public way, in the context of public policies and the initiatives of international organizations, from a preventive academic reading, with focus on labor and rights. By tracing the experiences of Ibero-America, advances were appointed, at different levels, for the recognition of this type of food vending, and proposals to promote inclusive social dynamics and health monitoring.

Educational videos with nutritional approach in YouTube

Objective Produce food and nutrition education videos, post these on YouTube and evaluate their reception over a two-year period. Methods Afterward bibliographic searches, sixteen different themes were developed and explored. An educational objective was defined for each video, took into account food and nutrition aspects in Brazil. The reception of the videos was evaluated using the “YouTube Analytics” tool, which allows analysis of the number of times videos were played, average playing time, and profile of the viewers. Results Sixteen videos were produced from November 2013 to July 2015. Views for each video within two years of posting were calculated individually, giving a total of 78,546 views for all videos. Most of the videos delivered their educational message before the audience lost interest. Conclusion Videos successfully reached the YouTube users and delivered the food and nutrition education messages. Therefore, this pioneering work showed YouTube as a new setting for health promotion in Brazil, paving the way for further initiatives with this platform.
