Abstract: -Densities and refractive index of binay mixtures of water with four protic ionic liquids, based on ammonium and fatty acids, were measured at 298.15 and 323.15 K, under atmospheric pressure. Apparent and excess molar volumes were obtained by experiments and fitting data to the Redlich-Meyer (RM), RedlichKister (RK) and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson (PFP) equations. The molar volume values were high, suggesting strong ion-solvent interaction. The same interaction also became stronger as the temperature increased. … Show more

“…In the cells, m is the molality of NaCl in the (2-HEAB + H 2 O) solvent mixture, and w is the mass fraction of 2-HEAB at w = 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, and 0.40. Experimental density values compared with literature data agreed to 0.2%.…”

“…2 for each weight fraction was used (0.00001 g cm −3 ). Figure 1 shows density values obtained by this work and Rocha-Pinto, 30 with a difference around 0.003. The difference may be addressed to slight differences in equipment precision, Besides, in the paper of Rocha-Pinto, 30 it is not possible to establish the exact value of purity.…”

“…We first focus on the problem of designing a binary copolymer with maximal density. Developing materials with targeted density is a fundamental material design problem. More generally, control of polymer packing is central to the rational design of their structure, rheology, porosity, and many other properties. Here we focus on a simple model system in which, out of two possible monomers, one has a higher cohesive energy and thus favors a higher density. As in the case above, the optimal solution here will therefore be a genome with all beads of a single type.…”
