Background: Stress is part of the individual, both at work and in social life. Prompted by several factors, stress is also present in the life of the teacher. Objectives: To identify the factors that have prompted stress situations for teachers in elementary school in the city of Campo Grande-AL; to determine the main stressors on well-being and satisfaction. Methods: Quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational research was selected. Data collection was performed by a protocol consisting of a sociodemographic characterisation questionnaire and the following: the Overall Job Satisfaction Scale; the Stress vulnerability Scale; the Positive and Negative Affect Scale; the Family Apgar and the Quality of Life Inventory. We used a non-probabilistic, convenience sample made up of 70 (seventy) elementary school teachers. Results: 50% of participants were found to show stress vulnerability; 28.5% had a good relationship with strangers and 55% reported having support from friends. No family problems were identified and 65% of respondents reported having family help. In job satisfaction only 27% of teachers were satisfied and 30% thought about leaving their work. Conclusions: Burnout in the classroom involves everyday situations for teachers, leading to the need to alert government agencies in order to adopt strategies for teacher well-being and satisfaction with a view to success.

The aim of the study was to describe the level of satisfaction and absenteeism in the work of professionals in the Academia da Cidade Program (ACP). For this, a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a mixed approach was carried out. For data collection, a self-administered questionnaire was used for 104 professionals of the Program in Recife, Pernambuco. For the analysis of the quantitative data, the software SPSS v.10.0 was used, the results were shown in absolute and relative frequencies. Content analysis was carried out for the open questions about job satisfaction. The professionals stated that they were satisfied with the work, both from the point of view of the management of the Program (66.3%), and in a global manner (63.5%). The link with the users, the performance in health promotion and the teamwork were the aspects that most positively influenced job satisfaction and, conversely, the physical and material structure, the municipal macro management and the salary were those that contributed to the dissatisfaction of the professionals. Absenteeism due to sick leave (66.3%) was the main reason for the withdrawal of professionals from work, and the support of the worker’s health specialized team from the municipal health department was not perceived. It can be said that the professionals were satisfied with the work in the ACP, but the working conditions, the remuneration and the valorization from the management are aspects that must be improved. It is also necessary to take care of the provider, since absenteeism due to medical causes, withdrew almost half of the professionals in the period studied.

Self-efficacy has occupied the research space due to the relevance it holds as an explanatory mechanism of human performance to understand the characteristics of the population, the study analyzed the differentiation of beliefs of self-efficacy of university professors who teach in the health area according to gender, marital status, age, seniority at work, religion and training graduate academic. A crosssectional and quantitative study was attended by 189 university professors working in a private university in northeastern Brazil. The differentiation indicate that Women perceive themselves more self-effective in the elaboration of didactic strategies to favor interaction in class; older teachers consider themselves more effective in didactic strategies for the planning of classes and postdoctoral teachers stood out for the higher sense of self-efficacy regarding didactic strategies for class planning, didactic strategies to actively implicate students and didactic strategies to favor interaction in class. Self-efficacy as an explanatory mechanism of human performance is determinant and therefore it is important to be enhanced in university professors for the pursuit of a higher quality of teaching-learning of future health professionals.
