Objetivo: Investigar a influência do cuidador na organização e funcionamento do Serviço de Atenção domiciliar nas modalidades AD2 e AD3. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo, exploratório com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com os dois coordenadores do Serviço de Atenção domiciliar nas modalidades 2 e 3 no município de Porto Alegre. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista semiestruturada no período de setembro de 2018 a outubro de 2019 e para a análise dos dados optou-se pela análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: Os cuidadores são essenciais tendo em vista que a sua presença se faz necessária como um dos critérios para a admissão do usuário no serviço ou em alguns casos a exclusão do mesmo quando o plano terapêutico ou as rotinas atribuídas pela equipe do serviço não são realizadas. Conclusão: A presença do cuidador é capaz de influenciar na elegibilidade e exclusão do usuário no SAD nas modalidades AD2 e AD3, como também, nas atividades desenvolvidas neste serviço, pois o mesmo é considerado um elemento fundamental para continuidade do cuidado no domicílio, além de atuar como elo entre o paciente e a equipe.

Life satisfaction and health self-assessment of older adults assisted through home care

Objective: to identify sociodemographic and health characteristics according to age groups and to analyze the association between self-assessed health status and satisfaction with regular/bad life with sociodemographic characteristics, global functioning and falls of older adults linked to home care within the primary health care network. Method: cross-sectional study with 124 older adults, conducted using home interviews. A sociodemographic data and health status questionnaire was used, together with Barthel Index, Lawton Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale (IADL), the Mini-Mental State Examination, the Geriatric Depression Scale and the Timed Up and Go Test. Bivariate and multivariate analyses (Poisson regression) were applied. Results: there was a predominance of female octogenarians. Self-assessment of regular/bad health was associated with mild (p=0.002) and severe (p<0.001) depressive symptoms. Satisfaction with regular/bad life was associated with fear of falling (p=0.019) and with mild (p<0.001) and severe (p<0.001) depressive symptoms. Conclusion: depressive symptoms were associated with a worse life satisfaction and health self-assessment.

Objective: To understand the management of home care by family caregivers of dependent elderly people after hospital discharge. Methods: Qualitative research guided by hermeneutics-dialectic, anchored in the theory of communicative action. Data collection took place using a semi-structured interview with 11 participants. Results: Two categories were constructed: Management of the many types of care by the caregiver and the relationship between family caregiver and health care network. Care and management actions carried out routinely cause major changes in the family caregiver’s life. He/she does not recognize planning, home care periodicity or support in required procedures. Final Considerations: The management of home care for dependent elderly people after hospital discharge is complex, involving physical and emotional overloads, as well as difficulties in getting support from health services. The planning shared between the health team and the family since the discharge is required, and the better visibility of the role of primary care when the patient is assisted by a home care service.
