“…The political reaction in Ghana was swift and targeted and it imposed restrictions to limit the spread of the virus ( Antwi-Boasiako, Abbey, Ogbey, & Ofori, 2021 ). Iran was an early epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit it during a period of economic stress and social distress ( Murphy, Abdi, Harirchi, McKee, & Ahmadnezhad, 2020 ) however, the initial response was seen as inadequate and oriented primarily to manage the economic situation ( Calabrese, 2021 ).…”

“…The various strategies and measures employed by key stakeholders to help Ghana deal with the pandemic have been characterized by a holistic, inter-sectoral and multi-stakeholder collective campaign. It is not surprising, therefore, that Ghana became the first African nation to lift its COVID-19 lockdown (Asiedu, cited in Antwi-Boasiako et al, 2021). Again, until recently, Ghana had the highest number of COVID-19 testing in the West African sub-region.…”

“…Again, until recently, Ghana had the highest number of COVID-19 testing in the West African sub-region. Antwi-Boasiako et al (2021) assert that although Ghana has been among the first ten countries in the African continent with the most infection cases, the ratio of infection to deaths shows that the country has been largely successful in managing its COVID-19 infections. Ghana's efforts have also been recognized in an article published in the Washington Post entitled "When it comes to coronavirus response, superpowers may need to study smaller nations".…”

“…Several countries in the South, most especially in Africa, enacted some policies to ensure households have access to enough water for the purpose of curtailing the pandemic. For instance, the Ghanaian government implemented a free water policy to improve water access at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic ( Amankwaa and Ampratwum, 2020 ; Antwi-Boasiako et al, 2021 ). Nonetheless, the policy has resulted in huge water bills for the government of Ghana, which spends over 40 million United States dollars on the item every month ( Smiley et al, 2020 ).…”
