This article analyzes different bibliometric indicators on research papers which examine the issue of economic integration in the Latin American region. The documents have been obtained from the Scopus bibliographic database; a total of 564 papers published in the time span from 2000 to 2020 have been identified, processed, and analyzed using the open-source software Bibliometrix and Vos Viewer. The results achieved allow identifying elements such as volume and relevance in scientific publications by country, H-G-M index of researchers with the greatest impact, estimation of Lotka’s Law, the analysis of co-occurrence between keywords, the dynamics in publication of the main sources, and finally, the thematic evolution in the last two decades. The findings provide a better understanding of the research processes as well as a comprehensive analysis of authors, their impact and the relevant sources in the economic integration of Latin America.

Mediante el estudio de la conexión de dirigentes y organizaciones gremiales con la Asociación Latinoamericana de Libre Comercio (ALALC) y la Comunidad Andina (CAN), entre 1960 y 2020, el objetivo de este artículo es explicar la participación empresarial en la construcción de estos dos procesos regionales. La investigación y la exposición de sus hallazgos se basan en literatura especializada, documentos, prensa, publicaciones y declaraciones de los procesos regionales y asociaciones empresariales. El artículo demuestra que los empresarios han tenido una intervención constante en la ALALC y la CAN y evidencia tanto que son actores vinculados con el mundo político como su cooperación para impulsar la apertura económica del regionalismo. Mientras en las décadas 1960 y 1970 el sector empresarial abogaba por valores de unión latinoamericana con un sentido integracionista, desde los años 1980 en su interacción con el regionalismo predomina el pragmatismo para facilitar los negocios y el crecimiento económico.
