Chemical and Electrochemical Doping of PPS in Sulfuric Acid

Abstract

Chemical and electrochemical dopings of poly(para-Phenylene Sulfide)(PPS) in the S0 3 /H 2 0 system were followed by UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy. The time evolution of the polymer's absorption bands in concentrated sulfuric acid clearly showed doping-swelling and solubilisation of the material. It was also found that highly concentrated sulfuric acid is necessary for the electrochemical doping of PPS.
