Abstract: Cell death pathways such as apoptosis can be activated in response to oxidative stress, enabling the disposal of damaged cells. In contrast, controlled intracellular redox events are proposed to be a significant event during apoptosis signaling, regardless of the initiating stimulus. In this scenario oxidants act as second messengers, mediating the post-translational modification of specific regulatory proteins. The exact mechanism of this signaling is unclear, but increased understanding offers the potential … Show more

“…Recently, several TPxs of malaria parasites were identified, and the functional properties of the enzymes were considered key factors for the development of new drugs (21)(22)(23)(24). Prx has also been reported to play key roles in innate immunity and inflammation (25) besides cellular redox signaling (26). Among these Prxs, the TPx-Q subfamily members have been proposed to be the most ancestral, most complex and the least systematically characterized (27).…”

“…ROS acts as a second messenger in signal transduction and gene regulation in a variety of cell types under several biological conditions such as cell growth, differentiation, progression, and death 12 , 13 . It can directly trigger apoptosis by causing excessive protein, lipid, and nucleic acid oxidation, but also has the potential to regulate pathways involving Bcl-2 family members and caspases 14 . Oxidation of the anionic phospholipid cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane is also proposed to play an important role in mitochondrial disruption and cytochrome c (Cyto-c) expression, which occurs during apoptosis 15 .…”

“…В связи с ýтим выяснение молекулярных механизмов дизрегуляции апоптоза опухолевых клеток служит обоснованием персонифицированных подходов таргетной терапии злокачественных новообразований. Актуальным направлением фундаментальной науки является изучение ýндогенной и ýкзогенной регуляции программированной гибели опухолевых клеток [1][2][3]. Дизрегуляция апоптоза при опухолевой прогрессии зависит от функционирования про-и антиапоптогенных белков [4][5].…”
