Abstract: The mitochondrial phosphate transporter (MPT) plays crucial roles in ATP production in plant cells. Three MPT genes have been identified in Arabidopsis thaliana. Here we report that the mRNA accumulations of AtMPTs were up-regulated by high salinity stress in A. thaliana seedlings. And the transgenic lines overexpressing AtMPTs displayed increased sensitivity to salt stress compared with the wild-type plants during seed germination and seedling establishment stages. ATP content and energy charge was higher in … Show more

“…Other Pi transporters in addition to the PHT1 family have been identified in plants, including plastidic PHT2 carriers (Daram et al, 1998), mitochondrial PHT3 transporters (Zhu et al, 2012), and PHT4 proteins. Among the six members of the PHT4 family, one is located in the Golgi membrane and five are found in the plast envelope (Guo et al, 2008).…”

“…The abovehigh-parent expression of Cu/Zn-SOD 4AP indicates that hybrids have better resistance to environmental stress and can provide a more stable system for the metabolism of living organisms in adapting to adverse environments. It was reported that a mitochondrial phosphate carrier protein in Arabidopsis plays a crucial role in responding to saline stress and regulating the immune biochronometer of Arabidopsis [55][56][57]. The above-high-parent expression of mitochondrial phosphate carrier protein 3 may have a function in the saline resistance of sorghum-sudangrass hybrids.…”

“…In addition, CYPs are also involved in biosynthesis and catabolism of many plant hormones, such as ABA (CYP707), GA (CYP714) and BR (CYP724) [54]. ABA regulates osmotic stress tolerance [56], and GA plays a role in salinity adaptation [57]. As mentioned previously, CYPs also play crucial roles in environmental adaptation, which might explain the better tolerance of RNAi cotton to salinity, drought and heat stresses as well as increase of potential and operative yields.…”
