Abstract:Ao longo do romance de Elfriede Jelinek, Desejo, há um amplo uso de citações da poesia de Hölderlin, às vezes pouco perceptível, às vezes grotescamente alterada. Tem havido pouco consenso acadêmico sobre a função dessas citações: alguns encontraram vestígios de uma noção utópica de uma sociedade justa e justa para contrastar com a dura sátira do romance; outros leram Hölderlin como representando o patriarcado au-thorship.
