Graphene-based composites

Abstract: Graphene has attracted tremendous research interest in recent years, owing to its exceptional properties. The scaled-up and reliable production of graphene derivatives, such as graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), offers a wide range of possibilities to synthesize graphene-based functional materials for various applications. This critical review presents and discusses the current development of graphene-based composites. After introduction of the synthesis methods for graphene and its derivati… Show more

“…Supercapacitors (electric double‐layer capacitors and pseudocapacitors) have attracted much interest as a new energy storage device because of excellent charge/discharge rates, long cycle life, and high power density 127, 128, 129, 130. Electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) operate based on rapid separation and adsorption of ions on the surface of the active materials.…”

“…Graphene sheets are functionalized with metals, chemical treatments, or other modifiers to enhance the chemisorption and selectivity of graphene to target gases 17, 18. Doping metallic nanoparticles is a practical method for tuning the electronic structure of graphene sheets without significantly losing mobility.…”

“…Dangling bonds of damaged graphene,132, 133 vapor‐phase deposition at high temperature,134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148 and intermediate seed materials132, 148, 149, 150 have been used to produce the hybrid of pristine graphene/inorganic nanostructure; however, the formed inorganic nanostructures were randomly oriented or poorly aligned on pristine graphene. This work paves a new way for precisely assembling inorganic nanomaterials on pristine graphene 93, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139…”

“…Self‐assembly of graphene or CMG with various metal or metal compounds has been widely studied 91, 92, 93, 94, 95. Inorganic nanoparticles can assemble on the CMG surfaces as particle nucleated/anchored on CMG substrates, with different characters and morphologies, resulting in hybrid structures with unique features inherited not only from the individual components but also emerged from the synergistic coupling of their components 96, 97, 98, 99, 100.…”
