Enhancement of the Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity of C-Doped TiO2 Nanomaterials Prepared by a Green Synthetic Approach

Abstract: Mesoporous C-doped TiO2 nanomaterials with an anatase phase are prepared by a one-pot green synthetic approach using sucrose as a carbon-doping source for the first time. A facile post-thermal treatment is employed to enhance visible light photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared photocatalyst. The enhancement effect of post-thermal treatment between 100 and 300 °C is proved by the photodegradation of gas-phase toluene, and the optimum temperature is 200 °C. Physicochemical properties of the samples are char… Show more

“…Yigit et al [10] explain and introduce the Cloud Computing architecture into Smart Grid in terms of efficiency, security and usability. Dong et al [11] provide a novel hybrid heuristic optimization method based on simulated annealing and particle swarm optimization methods to figure out the optimum generation dispatching of distributed resources in smart grid. Sintov et al [12] present emerging technologies by integrating smart grid infrastructure with behavioral science, so as to manage users' behavior and maximize energy efficiency.…”

“…Several methods have been reported in the literature for the synthesis of C-doped TiO 2 [21][22][23][24][25], some produced C-doped TiO 2 with sharp UV-Vis absorption edge with variable anatase TiO 2 phase stability and morphology [21][22][23] and some produced materials with poorly crystallized structure lack of a sharp UV-Vis adsorption edge [24,25]. Shi et al [23] prepared C-doped TiO 2 hollow spheres with hierarchical macroporous channels using carbon spheres as both a template and a carbon doping source.…”

“…Doping of anionic or cationic sublattices of TiO 2 has been shown to narrow the band gap and, thus, alter the optical properties of TiO 2 . Modification of cationic and anionic sublattices can be achieved by metal type doping (W, Cr, Fe, Nb, Ta, Mn) [10,18] or nonmetal (N, S, C) type doping [19][20][21][22][23].…”
