“…The specific hypochromism and bathochromism of complexes 1 and 2 were 44.5% and 12.5 nm, and 25.5% and 5 nm, respectively. Comparing the hypochromism of these two complexes with that of a previously reported oxovanadium complex VO(C 8 H 8 NO 3 ) 2 (hypochromism of 20.2% and bathochromism of 2 nm in the absorption band of ligands), which interacts with DNA by intercalation [22,24], the spectral characteristics of complexes 1 and 2 suggest that they are most likely to bind with DNA through a stacking interaction between the aromatic chromophore of the ligands and the base pairs of DNA. In order to further elucidate the binding strengths of the complexes, the intrinsic binding constants K b were calculated by monitoring the changes of absorbance in the ligand transfer bands with increasing amounts of CT-DNA.…”

“…A solution of CT-DNA in buffer 1 gave a ratio of UV absorbance at 260 and 280 nm of 1.8-1.9:1, indicating that the DNA was sufficiently free of protein [23]. The DNA concentration per nucleotide was determined by absorption spectroscopy using the molar absorption coefficient (6,600 M -1 cm -1 ) at 260 nm [24]. Salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone and its derivative 3,5-dibromo salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone were synthesized according to a previously reported procedure [25,26].…”

“…Literature survey assembled a number of different complexation of quinolones. Efthimiadou et al 25 30 There have been reported complexes of ciprofloxacin with V(IV)O 2+ , Fe(III) 31 and two complexes of norfloxacin with Zn(II). 32 In this paper, we also present application of our developed method by performing in vitro interaction of GMFX with different essential, trace elements and heavy metals.…”
