Abstract: The ability of four Aspergillus strains for biosynthesis of kojic acid was evaluated among which Aspergillus terreus represented the highest level (2.21 g/L) of kojic acid production. Improvement kojic acid production ability of A. terreus by random mutagenesis using different exposure time to ultraviolet light (5–40 min) was then performed to obtain a suitable mutant of kojic acid production (designated as C5-10, 7.63 g/L). Thereafter, design of experiment protocol was employed to find medium components (gluc… Show more

“…The mutant strain Penicillium notatum MHUV9 was detected for the highest activity of pectinase enzyme and it was i.e., 5.1 ± 0.10 U/ml/min. Munir and his colleagues were followed the procedure mentioned in Shakibaie et al, 2018 and resulted seven mutant variants of Aspergillus tamarii RMLC strain, after 1 mL of conidial suspension was subjected to UV light for different time of exposures [98]. Haq et al [104] carried out an experiment to reveal the possible mechanisms and pathways that are reasonable to the enhanced activity of production of pectinase enzyme by A. niger mutant strain EIMU2 and it was the result of mutation occurred in wild type A. niger EIM-6 after exposing to the UV treatment.…”

“…As a ubiquitous mutagen, the error-prone pathway is responsible for the most UV-induced mutations ( McGregor, 1999 ). Higher kojic acid production of A. terreus ( Shakibaie et al, 2018 ), Pleurotus sajorcaju ( Adetunji and Adejumo, 2017 ) and the white button mushroom ( Agaricus bisporus ) (A. Motallebiazar et al, 2017 ) were obtain a suitable mutant through the UV irradiation..…”
