Abstract: This study aimed to explore the effects of two siderophore-producing bacterial strains on iron absorption and plant growth of peanut in calcareous soil. Two siderophore-producing bacterial strains, namely, YZ29 and DZ13, isolated from the rhizosphere soil of peanut, were identified as Paenibacillus illinoisensis and Bacillus sp., respectively. In potted experiments, YZ29 and DZ13 enhanced root activity, chlorophyll and active iron content in leaves, total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium accumulation of plan… Show more

“…Both plants and microbes have access to these soluble Fe 3+siderophore complexes [74]. Previous studies have shown siderophores production in the isolated PGPRs including species of Paenibacillus [75,76]. Raza and Shen et al [59] reported siderophores production in the isolated strain Paenibacillus polymyxa SQR-21 under different iron conditions.…”

“…Usually, hydroxamates are more commonly found in neutral to acid environments while catecholates are more commonly found in neutral to alkaline environments (Saha et al, 2013). Several bacterial genera were described to produce siderophores, such as Azotobacter (Baars et al, 2016;McRose et al, 2017;Romero-Perdomo et al, 2017), Azospirillum (Banik et al, 2016), Bacillus (Kesaulya et al, 2018;Pourbabaee et al, 2018), Dickeya (Sandy and Butler, 2011), Klebsiella (Bailey et al, 2018;Zhang et al, 2017), Nocardia (Hoshino et al, 2011), Pantoea (Burbank et al, 2015;Soutar and Stavrinides, 2018), Paenibacillus (Liu et al, 2017), Pseudomonas (Baune et al, 2017;Deori et al, 2018;Pourbabaee et al, 2018), Serratia (Coulthurst, 2014) and Streptomyces (Gáll et al, 2016;Goudjal et al, 2016;Schütze et al, 2014).…”

“…Additionally, L. lecanii CA-1-G required relatively long period of light for sporulation, consistent with the findings by Li et al (2004). Liu et al (2017) found that, promotion of iron nutrition and growth on peanut by biocontrol fungi in soil means, we can promote the biocontrol fungi efficacy by managing the plant microbe (Kepler et al, 2017).…”

“…There were many papers reported on the nutrition and environment factors of biocontrol agents (Liu et al, 2017;Keplere et al, 2017;Chaverri et al, 2015;Yu et al, 2013;Xue et al, 2013). In fact, the nutritional requirements of fungus have changed after mycelial growth.…”
