“…Phytochemical investigation of CH 2 Cl 2 extract from the roots of G. cowa led to the isolation of three new xanthones, kaennacowanols A-C (1-3) together with nineteen known xanthones; fuscaxanthone I (4) [25], cowanol (5) [21], cowanin (6) [5], garcinone D (7) [26], α-mangostin (8) [5], pruniflorone C (9) [27], β-mangostin (10) [5], fuscaxanthone D (11) [28], fuscaxanthone C (12) [ 9-hydroxycalabaxanthone (19) [5], 5-hydroxy-8,9-dimethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-7-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-2H,6H-pyrano[3,2-b]xanthen-6-one (20) [29], fuscaxanthone A (21) [5] and jacareubin (22) [30]. The structures of these isolated xanthones were elucidated using spectroscopic methods especially 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.…”
