August 2026 Release Notes

This month we focused on meeting you where you already work. Scite is now easier to connect to your AI assistants, more generous to try, and simpler to choose a plan for. We also improved how you bring your existing library into Scite and how you keep up with new research.

Here's what's new.

Use Scite in your AI tools

Connecting Scite to your AI assistant is now a one-click step. We redesigned the activation experience so you can add Scite directly to ChatGPT or Claude without copying server URLs or wrestling with setup.

• One-click connection. Choose "Add Scite to ChatGPT" or "Add Scite to Claude" and you are connected.
• Always within reach. A new call-out in the sidebar makes the option easy to find whenever you want it.
• Using something else? We published setup guides and technical specs so you can connect Scite to other MCP-compatible tools.

Once connected, Scite gives your AI assistant the citation context and evidence it needs for scholarly research, so the answers you get are grounded in real literature. Visit scite.ai/mcp to get started.

More room to try Scite in your tools

We opened up free and trial access so you can experience Scite properly before you decide.

• 25 free MCP credits every month. Free accounts now include 25 MCP credits per month to use Scite across ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools, so you can get real value before you subscribe.
• Your allowance, visible. Your free usage allowance now shows directly inside your AI tools, so you always know where you stand.
• Trials get the full plan. If you start a trial, you now get the full usage allowance of the plan you are trying, rather than a limited preview. You get to experience Scite the way it actually works.

A simpler way to choose a plan

We reorganized the pricing page so you can find the right plan faster.

• Individual and Team and Enterprise are now separate tabs, so you go straight to what fits you.
• A new Academic option for university researchers.
• The free trial is back on Pro, so you can try our most capable plan before committing. You can also end a trial early and start paying whenever you are ready.

Bring your Zotero library into Scite

We made importing from Zotero more reliable and more flexible.

• Group and lab libraries. You can now import from your Zotero group libraries, not just your personal one. Pick the library you want before you choose folders.
• Fewer dropped references. Previously, items whose DOI was stored in a note or link field were silently skipped. Scite now recognizes those DOIs, so more of your library comes through, including books, reports, and preprints.

Feed and Alerts

We cleaned up how updates appear so your feed stays readable.

• Tidier alert updates. When an alert returns a large batch of new papers, it now collapses into a compact card showing the first few results, with an option to expand and see everything.
• More reliable Collections activity. We fixed the new-items counts and activity indicators on your Collections so they reflect what actually changed.

Reliability and polish

We also resolved more than 40 fixes across search, sign-in, the Assistant, Reference Check, and journal and publisher metadata, so more of your day-to-day work just runs smoothly.
