April 2026 Release Notes

April was about expanding where Scite's intelligence lives and what it can search. We extended the Scite MCP beyond the published literature to cover patents, clinical trials, and grants; launched a new microsite to showcase what Scite + AI clients can produce; and made it faster than ever to get started with one-tap Google sign-in.

Patents, Clinical Trials, and Grants in the Scite MCP

The Scite MCP now searches well beyond peer-reviewed papers. Three new tools are available to anyone connecting Scite to Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP-compatible client.

Patents, clinical trials, and grants are available to users on our new Pro Plan. See pricing for details.

search_patents

Search across millions of patent families to find prior art, track competitor IP, or pull patent context into a literature review.

search_clinical_trials

Query clinical trial records — including study design, status, and outcomes — alongside the literature that surrounds them.

search_grants

Discover funded research across major grant databases to understand who's working on what, and where the funding is going.

All three live alongside our existing literature search, so a single conversation in your AI client can move fluidly between papers, patents, trials, and grants — with Smart Citation context throughout.

Scite Demos

We launched scitedemos.com — a microsite showcasing what's possible when you combine the Scite MCP with AI clients like Claude. It includes interactive artifacts, downloadable PDFs, and a demo console organized around real research workflows.

Whether you're evaluating Scite for the first time or looking to see what others are building, the microsite is a quick way to see the connector in action without setting anything up yourself.

Google One Tap Sign-in

Signing up for Scite — or signing back in — is now a single click. We've added Google One Tap to the platform: if you're signed into a Google account in your browser, you'll see a prompt at the top of the page (or the bottom on mobile) to continue with Google. No password to remember, no separate signup flow.

What's Next

A few things on the horizon:

  • Continued expansion of the Scite MCP
  • Enhancements to how Scite organizes and tracks research over time
  • And so much more…

Thank you for using Scite. And, as always, we'd love to hear your feedback.
