Мета: визначити розвиток загальної підготовленості юних спортсменів віком 12–13 років, які займаються спринтерським бар’єрним бігом. Матеріал і методи: у дослідженнях взяли участь 30 легкоатлетів (14 дівчат та 16 хлопців) віком 12-13 років, які займаються у дитячо-юнацьких спортивних школах Харківської області. У процесі педагогічного експерименту використовувалися такі методи: аналіз науково-методичної літератури, педагогічне тестування; спеціальні педагогічні спостереження за навчально-тренувальною діяльністю юних бігунів, які спеціалізуються у бар’єрному бігу на короткі дистанції, педагогічний експеримент, математична статистика. Результати: за результатами тестування фізичної підготовленості бар’єристів на короткі дистанції було виявлено, що середньостатистичні значення показників фізичної підготовленості у дівчат та хлопців відповідають нормативам навчально-тренувальної групи попередньої базової підготовки. Експериментальна група працювала за цією програмою і в тренувальні заняття включали вправи швидкісного та швидкісно-силового характеру. Темпи приросту показників спеціальної фізичної підготовленості у дівчат та юнаків відображено у таблицях 2 і 3, аналіз яких дозволяє виявити за час проведення експерименту позитивні зміни показників фізичної підготовленості бар’єристів на короткі дистанції. Висновки: проаналізовані та узагальнені дані науково-методичної літератури щодо фізичної підготовки бігунів-бар’єристів на короткі дистанції. Визначено та оцінено рівень загальної фізичної підготовленості юних спортсменів віком 12–13 років, які займаються бар’єрним бігом на короткі дистанції. Експериментально підтверджено вплив засобів швидкісно-силової спрямованості на спеціальну фізичну підготовленість бігунів-бар’єристів на короткі дистанції.
