La investigación tiene como propósito analizar el reconocimiento epistemológico del profesor de ciencias naturales como forma de construcción de su identidad profesional. Se trata de una investigación abordada con un enfoque cualitativo en el que tres docentes de ciencias naturales de educación secundaria en Venezuela, construyeron relatos sobre sus prácticas de enseñanza. El reconocimiento epistemológico del profesor de ciencias naturales, como forma de construcción de su identidad profesional, se asocia a significados que derivan de tres claves importantes: 1) la contextualización de su práctica docente (escenario y condiciones para la enseñanza), 2) el diálogo entre los conocimientos adquiridos en la formación y la experiencia profesional, 3) los procesos de reflexión a partir de las reconstrucciones en y sobre la práctica como referente para orientar los cambios a incorporar en la enseñanza de las ciencias naturales, así como la pertinencia de respuestas ante problemas educativos y que aporten convicción para configurar la identidad docente.
El objetivo del artículo de investigación es describir situaciones problemas que inciden en el desarrollo de la planificación de la enseñanza a partir de relatos de experiencia docente. La dimensión metodológica es de naturaleza cualitativa de tipo hermenéutico; la recolección de la información se realizó mediante relatos de experiencia producidos por cinco (5) docentes de educación secundaria de Maracaibo, Venezuela. Entre los resultados se cuentan que la carencia de recursos didácticos para la enseñanza, la deficiencia en la infraestructura escolar, así como la irregularidad en la asistencia estudiantil, además del exceso de matrícula estudiantil y la intensidad horaria son algunas de las situaciones problemas que afectan el desarrollo de la planificación de la enseñanza. Sobre el contexto anterior, se concluye que los relatos docentes representan un dispositivo metacognitivo para volver sobre situaciones significativas dentro de la experiencia, favoreciendo la construcción del conocimiento docente basado en la práctica.
