Zur Simulation des Extraktionsprozesses wurde auf ein instationäres Diffusionsmodell zurückgegriffen. Das Modell berücksichtigt die Diffusion des Zinks in der wässrigen und organischen Phase und die des Komplexbildners D2EHPA in der organischen Phase. Weiterhin werden an der Phasengrenzfläche die Gleichgewichtseinstellung und die Stöchiometrie der Zink-Komplexbildung berücksichtigt. Die Berechnung des Extraktionsfortschrittes liefert dabei mit nur einem zusätzlichen, adjustierbaren Parameter eine gute Übereinstimmung mit dem Experiment. Dies trifft sowohl bei der Variation der Zinkkonzentration, des pH-Wertes als auch des Phasenverhältnisses zu.
