Data de 1975 o nascimento do jornal alternativo Versus, imerso na proposta de publicar aventuras, idéias, reportagens e principalmente cultura, assumindo neste último pilar um forte caráter de resistência. Nas páginas de Versus encontra-se um discurso épico das tramas latino-americanas, com seus heróis e sua realidade fantástica, que no jornal ganhava matizes metafóricos para expressar o horror das ditaduras instauradas na América Latina da década de 1970. Neste artigo, pretendemos resgatar a memória de Versus, discutindo ainda a atuação do jornal na composição das identidades latino-americanas.
Tomando como ponto de partida o jornal alternativo Versus (1975-1979), editado em São Paulo, este artigo explora a relação travada entre a publicação brasileira e a revista Crisis (1973-1976), editada em Buenos Aires. Dois são os eixos sobre os quais se pretende avançar: o entendimento dos laços existentes entre a publicação brasileira e o território cultural em que se converteu a América Latina em princípios dos anos 1970; e as “falas” intrínsecas do projeto político-cultural levado a cabo por ambas publicações. O artigo ainda discute como este projeto esteve vinculado a uma práxis jornalística cujo processo de escrita constituiu-se numa forma de engajamento na qual a confecção textual parece querer comportar uma ação de comprometimento entre o jornalista e o texto.
