Covid-19 é uma doença respiratória causada pelo SARS-CoV-2, transmitida pela inalação de gotículas liberadas através da tosse ou espirro, que ocorre através do contato com membranas bucais, nasais e oculares contaminadas. Pessoas contaminadas com Coronavírus (HcoV) geralmente desenvolvem sinais e sintomas, incluindo problemas respiratórios leves e febre persistente, uma média de 5 a 6 dias após a infecção. A infecção ocorre através da infecção lítica de oligodenrócitos, danificando a bainha de mielina dos neurônios. A desmielinação pode iniciar uma doença chamada Encefalomielite Disseminada Aguda (doravante: ADEM), que é uma doença autoimune, uma doença inflamatória difusa rara do SNC. É uma doença monofásica, caracterizada por um ataque generalizado, mais notavelmente a matéria branca do cérebro e da medula espinhal, que danifica a mielina, que é uma camada protetora de fibras nervosas, e pode causar sequelas neurológicas graves se não for identificada e tratada precocemente. Os principais sintomas neurológicos encontrados foram alterações no nível mental, variando de confusão a coma, ataxia e déficits motores focais, além de sintomas de síndrome respiratória aguda grave. Diante dessas considerações, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o aparecimento do ADEM após a infecção pelo vírus Sars-coV-2. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica com abordagem descritiva sobre a ocorrência da ADEM, o levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado por meio de uma pesquisa nas bases de dados científicas: GOOGLE ACADEMICS, SCIENCEDIRECT SPRINGER, Medical Publisher (doravante: PUBMED) e SCIELO, coletando artigos, teses e livros entre os anos de 2016 e 2021, em inglês e português.
