The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Blended Learning (BL) and Project-Based Learning (Pj-BL) on the pre-service teachers’ creative thinking in learning biology. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with 76 biology education students as research subjects. In its implementation, the experimental class was taught using the BL and Pj-BL approach, the control class is conventional class. The parameters are creative thinking with 4 indicators. Data was collected using pretest and posttest assessments. Data is presented and analyzed descriptively. The results of the study were overall the average score of creative thinking of pre-service teachers in the experimental class was 91 with an N-gain index of 0.62, higher than in the control class (76) with an N-gain index of 0.51. From the results, it could be concluded that Blended Learning and Project-Based Learning are quite influential in increasing the creative thinking ability of pre-service biology teachers, and BL and Pj-BL is quite more effective than conventional in increasing the pre-service teachers’ creative thinking in biology learning.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of using problem-based module (PBM) in the subject of Biology on high school students’ problem-solving skill and achievement. This research used the quasi-experiment method with Non-Equivalent Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design, which involved two science classes, in which one group was assigned as control group and another one as experiment group, in a high school in Pekan Baru, Indonesia. The problem-solving ability and the product of learning were descriptively analyzed before being inferentially analyzed. To find out whether or not there is any difference in their problem-solving skill, t-Test and N-gain test was conducted on the experimental group’s and control group’s concept mastery level and product of learning. The result shows that the problem-solving skill percentage of the experimental group was 95.47% (very good), whereas that of the control group was 25.12% (low). The average of student’s achievement in the experimental group was 84.26% (good), while that of the control group equaled 79.08% (moderate). The average of the product of learning was 89.89% (good) for the experimental group, whereas that of the control group was 52.10% (low). The findings showed that PBM can actually increase problem-solving skill, students’ achievement, and students’ learning product, with the experimental group getting higher percentage in all three aspects compared to the control group by using PBM in their Biology class. The implication of this study is the increase in the quality of learning through learning innovation using learning module. The panned and organized implementation of this module by teachers will not only improve students’ thinking skills, but also increase the quality of science and technology, consistent with the aim of Indonesia education
This study aims to develop e-modules through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of this research was development research with the ADDIE model. The trial subjects were students of SMAN 1 Seberida. The research instruments were observation, interview, media expert validation questionnaire, material expert, biology teacher validation, student and student response questionnaire. Qualitative data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative descriptive observations and interviews and presented at the analysis stage, suggestions from media expert validators, materials, biology teachers, student and student responses were carried out descriptively and qualitatively and presented in the development stage. While the score of the biology teacher validation questionnaire was carried out using Descriptive statistics by presenting data through tables. The validation results of media experts, material experts and biology teachers on the e-module were 3.63, 3.62 and 3.71, respectively with valid category. The results of student and student response analysis obtained an average score of 89.98 and 87.7 which are categorized as very practical. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the electronic module with the Kvisoft flipbook maker is suitable for use as learning material and can be tested in direct learning.
This study aims to determine the improvement of students' science process skills through the application of Project Based Learning based LKPD on environmental pollution material for Class X Senior High School. This research was conducted at MAN 1 Kuantan Singingi. The method used in research is development research (Research and Development). Sources of research data came from 25 students of class X IPA 3. Research design using one group pretest posttest only. Data collection obtained from the preetest and posttest results of the student's Science Process Skills instrument. The results showed that the students' science process skills experienced an increase in the posttest results, from 63.5 to 83.5 with a medium increase (N-Gain 0.54). From the research results, it can be concluded that LKPD based on project based learning can be used as a medium for learning biology in high school.
