Wir stellen fest, daS diese in keinem einzigen Pnnkte stichhaltig ist. Es ist bedanerlich, da0 Feis t unsere Arbeit nicht geniigend beriicksichtigt nnd fiir nachpriifenswert gehalten hat. Sonst wSiren wir nicht gezwnngen, gestiitzt anf alte nnd neue Versnche, uns in Abwehr sachlich nngeniigend begriindeter Angriffe neuerlich mit der Rechtfertignng nnserer Ergebnisse zn beschaftigen.Die Genannten beharren auf der von ihnen zuletzta) aufgeetellten Bruttoformel C,,H,,O, fiir Columbin und auch auf der Richtigkeit anderer von ihnen beschriebener Umeetmngen dieeee Bitteratoffea (uberfiibrung in daa Chasmanthin -C,oHa,O,durch thermische Zersetzung oder Alkalibehandlung, Enbtehung der Hydrochaamauthia h r e C,,H,O, bei der Hydriernng, Bildung eines Methylchaemanthins Cal€Ja,O1 dnrch Methylierung.) In unserer I. Mitteilung haben wir fiir das Columbin die Formel CmH,,O, aufgestellt. Die Formel C,,H,,O, und die eben erwiihnten Umetzungen werden von m e beetritten; eie erkliiren sich unseren Resultaten nach durch einen Chamanthingehalt') dee von F e i s t verwendeten und fur einheitlich gehaltenen Colnmhins. Da eich rnniichst der Raindarstellung des Columbins groBe Schwierigkeiten entgegensteilten, haben wir zur Aufstellung der Bruttoformel diesea Bitterstoffs einen Umweg eingeschlagen. Wir kamen en der Formel C20H,,0, unter anderem (2. B. eberfrihrnng in das Isocolnmbin) durch die Untersuchnng der bei der thermiechen Zersetzung von Columbin und seines Acetylderivates entstehenden Stoffe.
