A associação entre informações históricas (filogenéticas) e ecológicas (análises de nicho) fornece uma referência completa sobre os fatores que atuam como determinantes no que se refere à distribuição dos organismos. Nesse estudo verificamos através de uma abordagem macroecológica (conservadorismo de nicho) o padrão de ocupação de nicho climático das espécies do gênero Formicivora. Para tanto utilizamos variáveis climáticas a partir do Wordclim e registros de ocorrência georreferenciados do Xenocanto, Wikiaves e revisão de literatura. As análises de nicho foram conduzidas no software R 3.0.3. As condições climáticas foram investigadas utilizando a técnica do PCA (Análises dos Componentes Principais), o qual indicou as variáveis que tem maior influência na distribuição do gênero são Bio2 (média mensal, temperatura máxima e mínima) e Bio12 (precipitação anual). Testes de equivalência e similaridade de nicho (D Schoener) foram computados e mostraram que as espécies de Formicivora ocupam nichos diferentes e apresentam baixa similaridade (o valor máximo obtido a partir do teste D foi 0,41). Utilizando uma árvore gerada por inferência bayesiana foi calculado o estado ancestral para todas as variáveis climáticas utilizadas nas comparações supracitadas. De acordo com os resultados, é possível que durante a diversificação do gênero, as espécies tenham experimentado diferenciação no nicho, até estabelecer o nicho atual.
