Resumo A soldagem A-TIG (Active Flux TIG Welding) utiliza-se em seu processo fluxos simples que auxiliam no aumento da penetração do cordão de solda. Nesse trabalho realizou soldagem TIG convencional comparado com a solda A-TIG com distintos fluxos, um de Óxido de Silício (SiO2) e outro de Óxido de Cromo (Cr2O3) em um aço baixo carbono com microadição de molibdênio na condição de laminado a quente. Essa caracterização tem o intuito de maior entendimento do comportamento desse tipo de soldagem nessa classe de aços, através de uma avaliação da microestrutura via microscopia óptica e ensaios de dureza ao longo da espessura do cordão de solda e do metal base. Verificou-se que o processo A-TIG é satisfatório e promove maior penetração. No entanto, a corrente de soldagem e a velocidade de soldagem são parâmetros que interferem no resultado da penetração podendo promover descontinuidade, conforme o observado em um dos fluxos utilizados neste trabalho.
