RESUMO: Este artigo tem como objetivo central traçar uma breve reconstrução histórica sobre a interdisciplinaridade no Brasil, de modo a promover uma reflexão sobre a sua importância para a construção do conhecimento. Para tanto, utiliza-se da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, de modo a reconstruir, criticamente, o cenário da pesquisa interdisciplinar no Brasil. Apesar do lócus do artigo ser o Brasil, não se pode descontextualizá-lo de como se organiza o conhecimento e o caminho interdisciplinar no mundo, para então, compreender sua trajetória em território nacional. Como resultados são apontados os principais fatores que dificultam a pesquisa interdisciplinar, como uma forma de orientar ações que possam mitigar tais barreiras e promover possibilidades de avanço na área em virtudes de uma sociedade cada vez mais complexa.
Essa pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar a experiência interdisciplinar empreendida pelos docentes e discentes do curso de Administração da UNESP/Tupã, por meio do Trabalho Interdisciplinar Orientado (TIO). Para tanto, buscou compreender o processo de construção do TIO; as motivações e desmotivações para o trabalho interdisciplinar e os resultados obtidos por meio deste. Optou-se por uma abordagem qualitativa, delimitando como método a pesquisa-participante, pois os pesquisadores também são atores do processo. Utilizou-se a pesquisa documental e a aplicação de questionário para docentes e discentes do curso. Notou-se que o TIO promove momentos de reflexão, vinculados à prática social, principalmente por ser um exercício que integra as diferentes áreas do saber em situações problemas.
