O Louco nem sempre é aquele que tem algum distúrbio mental, mas aquele que de alguma forma ousou quebrar as regras da sociedade de alguma forma, ou àquelas pessoas que de alguma maneira não são aceitas por não estar de acordo com os “padrões” pré-definidos, como aconteceu a Idade Média, onde as mulheres que ousavam se destacar eram queimadas como bruxas na fogueira pela Santa Inquisição. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar um retrato histórico do surgimento dos manicômios e da luta antimanicomial, com foco no antigo Hospital Colônia, da cidade de Barbacena. No Brasil na década 1900, com a implantação do Hospital Colônia, em Barbacena, aconteceu que muitas pessoas foram tratadas como loucas por não se encaixarem nos “padrões” sociais que eram levados pelo chamado “Trem de Doidos” até Barbacena e deixados no Colônia, lá eram despidos de suas identidades, longe de suas famílias e casas, diante de uma realidade cruel e atroz, não lhe resta senão seguir em frente no seu papel de louco, no teatro da vida. Assim, vendo os anos escorrendo por suas mãos assistindo o companheiro de caminhada deitado em uma cama, atrás das cortinas fechadas. Só escutando os urros, que vem do eletrochoque esperando a expectativa da chegada, daqueles que lá estão, só se escutam os urros por trás da coxia e de repente, se faz o silêncio de dor e cansaço que o eletrochoque causou por aqueles homens de branco que pareciam anjo, mas que no fim só traziam dor, às vezes ao despertar acontecia da cortina se abrir e emoção não mais existir, pois a lobotomia foi feita ali. E agora uma alma jaz e emoções jamais existirá. Felizmente, alguns vão ver o fechamento destas prisões e terão o seu direito de retorno à sociedade, mesmo que haja lutas contra, não conseguirão reabrir as prisões mentais, pois saúde mental não se vende, saúde mental não se prende.
