The impact of electromagnetic oscillations of the terahertz band at frequencies of NO radiation and absorption molecular spectrum (150.176-150.664 GHz) for the functional activity of platelets was studied in albino rats exposed to immobilization stress. The effect of these waves was sex-specific: females were more sensitive to radiation than males. Relationship between the terahertz waves and phase of estrous cycle in females was detected: estrus females exhibited maximum sensitivity to these waves.
The terahertz electromagnetic irradiation at NO emission and absorption spectrum frequencies elevated the concentration of nitrites in blood serum of albino rats subjected to acute immobilization stress.
We studied the influence of preventive irradiation with terahertz electromagnetic waves at frequencies corresponding to nitric oxide emission and absorption molecular spectrum (150,176-150,664 GHz) on hemodynamic parameters in arteries of albino rats upon acute immobilization stress. We showed that exposure to the specified frequencies can produce adaptogenic effect manifesting in the absence of post-stress changes in the linear, systolic, and diastolic blood flow velocities and pressure gradient in various blood vessels of experimental animals.
The range of medical electromagnetic radiation is constantly extended as a result of development of conven tional areas of application (radio, electronics, communi cation) [1]. Cell metabolism therapy is mediated by elec tromagnetic radiation at frequency 41 240 GHz [2]. This range is promising for biomedical apparatuses [3,4].According to international standards, this range is between extreme radiofrequency and optical radiation (30 300 GHz) [3 5].Resonance frequencies of some important biological processes lay within the terahertz range. The resonance frequency of the somatic mammalian cell is 2.49 THz. Resonance frequency of human erythrocyte is 0.5 1 THz. Resonance frequency of a chromosome is 0.75 15 THz. Molecular spectra of emission and absorption (MSEA) of NO, O 2 , CO 2 , etc. fall within terahertz range [2,6]. Electromagnetic radiation of terahertz range requires additional study.Ten years ago TsNIIIA, Ltd. (Saratov) provided the theoretical basis for research into terahertz therapy. New apparatuses for such therapy were described [3].For instance, the Orbita apparatus with nitrogen oxide MSEA range (150, 176 150, 664 GHz [7]) was developed. This apparatus is used in physiotherapy [8].
