The rate of SCN1A mutations in this cohort of SMEI patients suggests that other factors may be important in SMEI. Less severe mutations associated with GEFS+ could interact with other loci to cause SMEI in cases with a family history of GEFS+. This study extends the phenotypic heterogeneity of mutations in SCN1A to include IS.
Experimental and theoretical studies were undertaken to investigate the particulatefree secondary flow interaction in the wire-type electrostatic precipitator. The secondary flow generated by the corona discharge is not negligible, and strong flow interactions take place owing to the induced circulatory cells. The calculated numerical results demonstrate close agreement with experiment.
In spatial competition between individuals, neither fish sex nor body mass affected dominance status in masu salmon Oncorhynchus masou. In contrast, resting metabolic rate (M R ) was significantly correlated with dominance status, indicating that a high metabolic rate can increase the dominance rank of juvenile salmon. Whole animal growth rate was significantly correlated with M R , but not with initial body weight. This suggests that the body size of masu salmon is not a cause, but rather a consequence, of dominance status which is closely related to M R . The increment width between otolith daily rings was also significantly correlated with M R . Thus, the size of the otolith may indicate the degree of M R . 1998 The Fisheries Society of the British Isles
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
