O presente estudo foi realizado entre setembro e outubro de 2020, em Santana do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul. O experimento objetivou avaliar a atividade reprodutiva de ovelhas leiteiras fora da estação convencional de acasalamento. Foram utilizadas 17 ovelhas multíparas da raça Lacaune. O protocolo hormonal utilizado consistiu no implante intravaginal por um período de sete dias do hormônio progesterona, somado a injeção intramuscular de Gonadotrofina coriônica equina (eCG) no momento da retirada do implante, na dose de 400 UI. Após o tratamento os animais foram submetidos a um período de encarneiramento por 5 dias. Registrou-se o momento do cio com auxílio de carneiros marcados com tinta no peito. As ovelhas apresentaram 52,9% (9/17) de taxa de expressão de cio. Os resultados obtidos demonstram que o tratamento hormonal em ovelhas leiteiras possibilita a manifestação de cio em períodos do ano em que naturalmente não ocorreria.
Foi estudada a epidemiologia dos nematódeos gastrintestinais em 120 ovinos pertencentes às raças Lacaune, Crioulas e mestiças destas duas, mantidas em regime semi-intensivo de pastoreio em uma propriedade particular, no município de Santana do Livramento, Fronteira Oeste do Rio Grande do Sul. O clima predominante da região é o Cfa e o experimento foi conduzido por 12 meses, englobando as quatro estações climáticas do ano. Os animais eram portadores de infecção natural por diferentes espécies de helmintos e o trabalho baseou-se na contagem de ovos por grama de fezes de 30 animais, escolhidos aleatoriamente, e destes, realizou-se um pool de fezes das 10 amostras mais infectadas para realização da coprocultura, com o intuito de indicar os gêneros mais prevalentes nestas amostras. Os dados foram analisados utilizando o teste de Análise de Variância e as médias comparadas por meio do Teste de Scott-Knott, a um nível de significância de 5%. Os gêneros de nematódeos mais prevalentes foram Haemonchus sp. e Trichostrongylus sp. Os dados de contagem de ovos por grama de fezes (OPG) indicaram que o ápice de produção de ovos foi na primavera. Além disso, observou-se a tendência de resistência desses helmintos encontrados aos fármacos utilizados para controle nesta propriedade. Conclui-se que há predominância de alguns gêneros de nematódeos no rebanho avaliado, e que existe diferença na distribuição epidemiológica em função da estação do ano.
A família Arecaceae é considerada a terceira maior família botânica, apresentando distribuição predominantemente pantropical. Dentre seus gêneros destaca-se o gênero Butia que se diferencia dos demais por apresentar disposição ascendente dos folíolos conduplicados e a presença de poros no endocarpo. O gênero Butia apresenta potencialidades na produção de palmitos, óleos, amido, ceras, fibras e na alimentação. No entanto, existe pouca informação cientifica que possa contribuir para que as espécies desse gênero sejam utilizadas como um recurso genético na expansão da agricultura familiar, na diversificação do agronegócio, no desenvolvimento do artesanato cultural e na gastronomia regional. Além disso, muitas espécies desse gênero estão ameaçadas de extinção e estudos sobre o seu estado atual e medidas de conservação são de grande importância. O trabalho demonstra que a relação evolutiva dentro do gênero Butia não está bem resolvida e há divergências entre autores quanto a variabilidade genética dentro e entre populações. A restrita distribuição geográfica e as divergências nas informações cientificas sobre o gênero Butia representam condições preponderantes para a busca do entendimento em trabalhos futuros sobre a caracterização ecológica, genômica e medidas de conservação das espécies Butia exilata e Butia lallemanti, as únicas palmeiras com o hábito cespitoso pertencentes ao gênero Butia.
