Objetivo: Descrever um caso clínico de intervenção restauradora nas unidades dentais anteriores superiores com facetas em resina composta e discutir a cerca desse tratamento. Detalhamento do caso: Paciente procurou atendimento no consultório odontológico queixando-se da harmonia do seu sorriso, onde o mesmo não gostava dos dentes amarelados, pequenos, separados e levemente desalinhados. Ao exame clínico verificou-se a presença de diastemas interdentais, unidades 12 e 22 com anatomia conóide e unidades 13 e 23 levemente girovertidos para distal. Tendo em vista as limitações do paciente e análise clínica, foi proposto reabilitação estética e funcional das unidades por meio de clareamento dental imediato em consultório, seguido de facetas em resina composta das unidades relatadas. Previamente ao tratamento restaurador foi confeccionado enceramento diagnóstico para evidenciar um possível resultado, planejar com segurança e confeccionar a guia palatina. Considerações finais: Para realização de múltiplas restaurações estéticas é de suma importância conhecimento teórico e prático por parte do cirurgião-dentista, planejamento minucioso do caso por meio do enceramento diagnóstico e cuidados pós-operatórios por parte do paciente, garantido assim o sucesso desse tratamento.
O presente trabalho trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura com o objetivo de discutir acerca das propriedades físicas, mecânicas e biológicas dos cimentos de ionômero de vidro (CIVs). Para reabilitar unidades dentais com cavidades patológias o cirurgião-dentista pode lançar mão de diversos materias, dentre eles podemos destacar os cimentos de ionômero de vidro, sendo esse um dos materiais mais utilizados para reabilitação oral, principalmente na dentição decídua. Sua ampla utilização está associada as excelentes propriedades desse material, como: liberação e absorção de flúor, garantindo redução da progressão e início de lesões cariosas; coeficiente de expansão térmico linear semelhante a estrutura dental, reduzindo draticamente os casos de infiltração marginal; adesividade nos tecidos; biocompatibilidade, para assim não agredir os tecidos biológicos do dente; resistência e estética aceitáveis, quando comparado a outros materiais como óxido de zinco e eugenol . Para realização desse estudo foi realizada uma busca completa nas bases de dados: PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs e Google Scholar, utilizando as palavras-chave “glass ionomer cements, dental materials and dentistry”, inseridas nas buscas de maneira cruzada adotando a expressão boolena "and”. Afim de selecionar os artigos a serem analisados foram elencados critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Para garantir sucesso restaurador e longevidade das restaurações com ionômero o profissional necessita realizar um diagnóstico e técnica correta, para que dessa forma haja um melhor aproveitamento e desempenho das propriedades desse material.
A exodontia de unidades permanentes, assim como doença periodontal e trauma bucal, estão muitas vezes relacionados ao processo de reabsorção alveolar, o que culminam na perda óssea tanto em espessura quanto em altura, sendo esse principal impasse para reabilitação oral por meio de prótese sobre implantes. Cerca de 50% dos sítios para instalação de implantes não apresentam volume ósseo suficiente para sua instalação, o leva a necessidade de utilizar biomateriais para o processo de regeneração óssea guiada. Diante da necessidade de aumentar tecido ósseo em volume e espessura, diversos biomateriais foram desenvolvidos, sendo eles classificados em enxertos do tipo autógeno, alógeno, xenógeno e aloplástico. Para realização desse estudo foi realizada uma busca completa nas bases de dados: PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs e Google Scholar, utilizando as palavras-chave “dentistry bone transplantation, surgery oral, biocompatible materials and bone regeneration”, inseridas nas buscas de maneira cruzada adotando a expressão boolena "and”. Afim de selecionar os artigos a serem analisados foram elencados critérios de inclusão e exclusão. A utilização de enxertos ósseos tem mostrado resultados promissores no ganho de osso vertical e horizontal. A associação de biomaterias permite que as melhores propriedades de cada tipo de enxerto sejam usadas de forma integrada, o que leva a resultados favoráveis tanto histologicamente como funcionalmente.
Uma das principais complicações associadas à presença clínica de desgastes dentais patológicos é a hipersensibilidade dentinária (HD), que necessita de um correto diagnóstico para realizar o tratamento adequado. O presente estudo, através de uma revisão sistematizada da literatura, teve como objetivo avaliar os dados científicos atuais em relação à efetividade da laserterapia como método alternativo no controle da HD. Foi realizada uma busca completa por estudos datados dos últimos cinco anos nas bases de dados PubMed, Scielo e Lilacs, utilizando os descritores dentin, sensitivity e laser, inseridos na plataforma de maneira cruzada adotando a expressão booleana and. Dos 470 artigos identificados e selecionados para análise, 464 foram excluídos por apresentarem um ou mais critérios de exclusão. Portanto, seis artigos foram qualificados para inclusão nesta revisão. Os resultados encontrados nos artigos selecionados sugerem um efeito positivo dos lasers de baixa (700nm, 3 J/cm2) e de alta potência (800nm, 8 J/cm2) na redução da dor e controle da HD. Porém, mais estudos clínicos randomizados e controlados são necessários para padronizar protocolos de sua correta indicação clínica.
