Em abril de 2009, surgia um surto da doença causada pelo então novo vírus influenza A(H1N1), que teve um rápido poder de disseminação. Inicialmente a doença ficou conhecida como “gripe suína”, por conta do evento genético que ocasionou a emergência do novo subtipo pandêmico resultado da recombinação genética de vírus suíno, aviário e humano, tendo um elevado potencial de disseminação entre humanos. Deste modo, o presente estudo pautou-se na construção de uma revisão bibliográfica integrativa, utilizando a metodologia do tipo PRISMA, visando a avaliação da prevalência da influenza A(H1N1) no Brasil entre 2016 e 2020 e o impacto da vacinação como estratégia na redução dos casos. Os critérios de elegibilidade de estudos para a presente pesquisa, resultaram em 11 estudos relevantes para o processo de discussão. Desses, representativamente, 1 da Scielo, 3 do Pubmed e 7 do Sciencedirect. Com eles foi possível identificar que a influenza A/H1N1 é uma doença infecciosa aguda de alta morbidade e mortalidade, sendo esses índices prevalentes em idosos, crianças, gestantes e portadores de doenças crônicas. Entretanto, constatou-se que a vacinação era eficaz na prevenção da evolução da doença para sua forma mais grave, e o desenvolvimento de novas patologias, assim, evitando hospitalizações, bem como gastos médicos.
