A COVID-19 tornou-se um grave problema mundial e de saúde pública devido à rapidez de contágio e mortalidade, especialmente em idosos. Investigar as estratégias de cuidados ofertados pelos profissionais da Atenção Primária à Saúde diante das consequências geradas pela COVID-19 em idosos. Estudo transversal, descritivo e de abordagem quanti-qualitativa, realizado com 31 profissionais de saúde que trabalham na Atenção Primária, na cidade de Condado-PB, Brasil. A coleta de dados foi realizada nos meses de agosto a outubro de 2021 por meio de um questionário semiestruturado após aprovação do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa sob número de protocolo 78/2021 e CAAE: 50005821.6.0000.5179. Foi utilizada a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo proposta por Bardin e o IRAMUTEQ. 81% dos entrevistados são do sexo feminino; 29% com idade média de 46 a 51 anos; 48% casadas; 36% agentes comunitárias de saúde; 48% com nível médio; e 58% executam suas atribuições a mais de 10 anos. Os sintomas mais evidentes nos idosos foram tosse 87% e medo 81%; as comorbidades hipertensão e diabetes com 81%. Na nuvem de palavras, “medo” teve maior frequência no corpus (14 vezes). Implementou-se consultas, mensagens e chat online como práticas assistenciais. As ações assistenciais através dos meios tecnológicos não foram suficientes para sanar ou reduzir todos os danos à saúde dessa população. Reforça-se a necessidade do cuidado gerontológico de Enfermagem, mediante capacitação profissional, sendo necessário ressignificar as ações de atenção ao idoso, respeitando as singularidades ocasionadas pelo momento pandêmico.
