In this survey, there are 14 species belonging to 14 genera, nine families and two orders, collected on Macrofungi from Tikrit city, Salahadin Governorate, North Central of Iraq. The members of Coleoptera were more abundant than flies on Macrofungi. The family of Ciidae and Leiodidae (Order, Coleoptera), Mycetophilidae (Order, Diptera), and 6 species are recorded for the first time for insect fauna of Iraq.
The current study aimed at knowing the biological efficacy of Ganoderma lucidum mushroom extract anti-oxidation and induced hyperlipidemic using Triton WR1339 and comparing its efficacy with the simvastatin drug. Study at the Animal House in the Department of biology-Faculty of Science of Kirkuk University for the period from 1/5/2017 to 25/5/2017 used 20 rat male Sprague Dawley type. Distributed to 4 groups of 5 rats per group. The control group was treated with a single dose of the normal salin solution, the second group was treated with a single dose within the Intraperatonal (iP) a dose of 300 mg/kg of body weight. The third group was treated with Triton and was dosed with the alcoholic extract of G. Lucidum with a dose of 30 mg/kg bw/day of body weight by Gavage. The fourth group was treated with Triton and dosed with the simvastatin drug at a dose of 0.3
The present study highlights the taxonomic values of the pollen features of 20 species of Verbascum L. in Iraq. The pollen grains were acetolysed and observed under Light and Electron microscopes. Our results showed that the pollen grains of these species are usually radially symmetrical, isopolar, tricolporate and display reticulate sculpturing. The variations were found in shape, size, and exine thickness. Most of the species are subprolate, prolate spheroidal, and prolate, whereas oblate spheroidal pollens were found only in V. thapsus. The pollen size among the species studied ranges from 16.2-32.5 µm. The majority of species are medium sized except V. agrimoniifolium and V. oreophilum that are small sized, and four species i.e. V. palmyrense, V. sinuatum, V. songaricum, and V. thapsus having both small and medium sized pollen grains. Moreover, the result showed that the exine thickness ranges from 0.87-4.75 µm, but this value can overlap between some species. Therefore, only the shape of pollen grains could be used to classify these species into groups.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjpt.v21i2.21355Bangladesh J. In this study, 8 monoterpenes compounds (α-pinene, Camphor, Cineole, Limonene, Linalool, Myrcene, Sabinen and Terpinene) were identified in volatile oils or essential oils (EOs) from leaves and flowerheads, and total carotenoids from the flowerheads of 7 Cynareae taxa (Asteraceae) growing in Iraq were studied. Linalool is the main ingredient in all leaves of the studied species (ranging 12.3 - 13.4%), while the proportion of myrcine ranged (15.0-26.8%) in the flowerheads in the rest of the studied species Cineole in both plant parts exhibited the lowest amounts in all studied species. the flowerheads showed higher EOS contents than the leaves. In all species studied Centaurea Hyalolipids showed the highest EOs content compared to the other studied species. Centaurea benedicta showed the highest carotenoid content (15.96 mg/L) while Centaurea bruguieriana exhibited the lowest (8.88 mg/L).
