A triclosan-resistant flavoprotein termed FabK is the sole enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase in Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus mutans. In this study, FabK from S. mutans strain UA159 was overexpressed in Escherichia coli, purified and crystallized. Diffraction data were collected to 2.40 Å resolution using a synchrotron-radiation source. The crystal belonged to space group P6(2), with unit-cell parameters a = b = 105.79, c = 44.15 Å. The asymmetric unit contained one molecule, with a corresponding V(M) of 2.05 Å(3) Da(-1) and a solvent content of 39.9%.
Domestic water pollution accidents and response management were analysed on the basis of collected data from the latest 5 years. Although average 66.7 number of accidents were happened every year, no damages of human life were reported yet. According to the data collected, the accidents were occurred at Han river, Nakdong river, Keum river, Youngsang river and other rivers, where the percentages were 25.4%, 20.3%, 12%, 8% and 29.7%, respectively. Main reasons were blamed for negligent management, mixed influences, natural phenomenon and traffic accident. Response activities were performed in the case of the oil leak, the fish death caused by water environment, the spill of chemicals. From the diagnosis of water pollution accidents, it is recommended that the legistration of all control centers for their roles and duties was made in case of the big accidents as well as the small/middle accidents.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of wind loads on the seismic collapse performance and seismic loss for steel ordinary moment frames (OMFs). For this purpose, 9-, 12-, 15-, and 18-story steel OMFs are repeatedly designed for (1) gravity load + seismic load, (2) gravity load + seismic load + wind load (wind speed = 44 m/s), and (3) gravity load + seismic load + wind load (wind speed = 55 m/s). The seismic collapse performance and seismic loss of OMFs are evaluated using the procedures in FEMA P695 (FEMA, 2009) and FEMA P58 (FEMA, 2018), respectively. Steel OMFs designed with consideration of wind loads have larger member sections than corresponding steel OMFs designed without consideration of wind loads as expected. Although member sections are increased when wind loads are considered, the growth in the maximum base shear force and lateral stiffness of OMFs are insignificant. Unlike our expectation, OMFs designed with consideration of wind loads have higher expected annual loss (EAL) than corresponding OMFs designed without consideration of wind loads.
DEAD-box helicases are enzymes with an ATP-dependent RNA-unwinding function that are involved in a variety of cellular processes including RNA splicing, ribosome biogenesis and RNA degradation. In this study, the N-terminal domain of DEAD-box RNA helicase from Staphylococcus aureus strain Mu50 was overexpressed in Escherichia coli, purified and crystallized. Diffraction data were collected to 2.60 Å resolution using a synchrotronradiation source. The crystal belonged to space group P1, with unit-cell parameters a = 70. 81, b = 80.23, c = 86.25 Å , = 69.54, = 66.54, = 87.32 . The unit cell contained six molecules, with a corresponding V M of 2.91 Å 3 Da À1 and a solvent content of 56.1%.
