RESUMO -Superfície superhidrofóbicas são importantes devido às suas inúmeras aplicações, que chamam muito atenção tanto da comunidade acadêmica quanto da indústria. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a eficácia ao se construir uma superfície utilizando o método de deposição galvânica sem eletricidade. Os experimentos foram realizados mergulhando uma placa de aço dentro de uma solução de sulfato de cobre para que o aço fosse recoberto com o cobre. Após o cobrimento, foi realizada passivação com solução alcoólica de ácido esteárico. A superfície produzida apresentou regiões superhidrofóbicas e outras somente hidrofóbicas, sendo algumas regiões com ângulo de contato de 140,33⁰ (hidrofóbicas) e outras com ângulo de contato de 162,2⁰ (superhidrofóbicas). INTRODUÇÃOO trabalho de Xu et al., (2009) destaca que podemos encontrar organismos vivos que apresentam propriedades de superhidrofobia na natureza, como a flor de lótus, que tem a sua superfície totalmente rugosa, na qual são formadas cavidades ocupadas pelo ar atmosférico, não deixando as gotículas de água penetrarem na flor. Inspirados na natureza, diversos autores (Xu et al., 2009; Guo et al., 2012 a, b; Xue et al., 2010; Park e Hwang, 2016;Ou et al., 2015;Yuan et al., 2016;)
Esse trabalho visa à análise das características morfológicas de partículas magnéticas de óxido de ferro recobertas com sílica, obtidas em diferentes condições reacionais, utilizando-se silicato de sódio como precursor. A morfologia das amostras foi investigada utilizando-se microscópio eletrônico. BET foi empregado para análise de propriedades texturais. A análise da morfologia apontou não uniformidade das partículas e o BET à formação de poros desordenados, além da tendência de aumento da area superficial e diminuição de poros na medida em que a concentração de silicato foi aumentada ou diminuiu-se o pH final de reação.

O banho foi seguido de passivação com solução alcoólica de ácido esteárico na ausência e presença de eletricidade. A superfície produzida sem utilizar eletricidade apresentou regiões hidrofóbicas, já a superfície produzida utilizando de eletricidade apresentou superhidrofobia em todas as regiões, com ângulos de contato de 152,85º até 163,23º. O trabalho de Xu et al. (2009) destaca que podemos encontrar organismos vivos que apresentam propriedades de superhidrofobia na natureza, como a flor de lótus, que tem a sua superfícies totalmente rugosa, na qual são formadas cavidades ocupadas pelo ar atmosférico, não deixando as gotículas de água penetrarem na flor. Inspirados na natureza, diversos autores (Xu et al., 2009;Xue et al., 2010; Park e Hwang, 2016;Ou et al., 2015;Yuan et al., 2016) propuseram diferentes métodos para o desenvolvimento de superfícies superhidrofóbicas artificiais. Para que a superfícies seja considerada superhidrofóbica, ela deve possuir um ângulo de contato maior que 150º (figura1), e ângulo de deslizamento menor que 10º (Guo et al., 2012a). O objetivo deste trabalho era utilizar reagentes mais baratos do que os reportados na literatura (Liu et al., 2012; Guo et al., 2012a,b) para fabricação de superfícies superhidrofóbicas. Após diversos testes, notou-se que a utilização de uma fonte elétrica era fundamental, como foi feito por Huang et al. (2010), Huang et al. (2011) e Xu et al. (2016).
