Compute선 tomography (CT) is a noninvasive and highly valuable method in the diagnosis of intra. 3. The most prevalent age group was 6th decade in intracerebral hemorrhage and su barachnoid hemor.rhage , but 7th decade in cerebral infarction. The sex ratio between male and female in intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage was 1:1 and 1: 1.6 respectively , but in cerebral infarction male was predominant with the ratio of 3: 1.4. The most common sites of involvement was basal ganglia(41.0%), thalamus(32.8%) and lobes(18.0%) in intracerebral hemorrhage; and lobes(5 1.6%) and basal ganglia(30.7%) in infarction.5. Among 33 cases of subarachnoid hemorrhage confirmed by spinal tapping, 25 cases(75.8%) showed CT positive finding and 8 cases (24.2%) CT negative finding. Most cases of CT positive finding were performed CT scan within a week.6. In cerebral infarction , the earliest detectable time by CT scan was 7 hours after onset; and the mass effect of the lesion was observed in 44% of cases, mostly(82%) within a week. -49 -

Pineal gland visible in plain skull radiography when calcified had been an important indicator for evaluation of any space, occupying lesion within cranium according to displacement of it from normal midline position. Since the pineal gland is more frequently demonstrated on CT scan than plain skull radiography , it seems helpful to define the incidence and localization of pineal gland.324 patients, performed head CT scan are analyzed incidence and localization of calcified pineal gland. The resul ts were as follows:1. The overall incidence of pineal calcification was 51 %.2. The male and female ratio in pineal calcification was 56% to 43%.3. 1) In the AP localization of pineal gland , the ratio of distance from anterior inner table of the skull to the pineal gland and that from pineal gland to the posterior inner table was 1.46 :1: 0.20.2) In the lateral local ization of pineal gland , according to ' Lateral Percentage Shift' by Hahn & Rim (1976) , the result was. 0 .9S% shift in 80 normal cases, but 2.20% shift in 38 cases with S.O. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
