Este síndrome clínico se caracteriza por qué ocurre una inversión del shunt de izquierda a derecha, producido por un incremento en la resistencia del árbol vascular pulmonar que supera la resistencia periférica lo que conduce a hipoxia severa y falla del ventrículo derecho, El SE afecta a alrededor del 1-2% de los pacientes con cardiopatías congénitas. La metodología utilizada para el presente trabajo de investigación, se enmarcada dentro de una revisión bibliográfica de tipo documental, ya que nos vamos a ocupar de temas planteados a nivel teórico como es Síndrome de eisenmenger: revisión bibliográfica. La técnica para la recolección de datos está constituida por materiales electrónicos, estos últimos como Google Académico, PubMed, entre otros, apoyándose para ello en el uso de descriptores en ciencias de la salud o terminología MESH. La información aquí obtenida será revisada para su posterior análisis. El diagnostico puntual y oportuno de las cardiopatías congénitas en la infancia y su correcto manejo como la cirugía, son las principales medias que contribuyen a evitar la aparición del síndrome de Eisenmenger y que tendrá como consecuencias una mejor calidad de vida y supervivencia de los pacientes. Estos mecanismos han logrado que esta patología siga siendo infrecuente y los reportes de casos sigan disminuyendo, al no ser tratada oportunamente, este síndrome genera insuficiencias cardiacas que complican la evolución de la enfermedad y la supervivencia de vida, que en la mayoría de los casos no supera los 50 años.
